MEDIA RELEASE 29 January 2009
WA water-saving products awarded Smart WaterMark label
Three products from local Western Australian companies have proved that they really do live up to
their water-saving claims with approval to carry Australias national outdoor water conservation
label.
Soil wetting agent Grosorb and Baileys Moisture Mulch from Rockingham-based company
Baileys Fertilisers, and wholesale product Aquamor Mulch from Perths Eclipse Soils, have all
recently been awarded the Smart Approved WaterMark,.
Services are also eligible for the Mark, which has recently been awarded to the WA Water
Corporations Waterwise Plants for Perth Gardens database. The free online service makes
planning a water-wise garden easy by listing more than 1000 commercially available plants that
will flourish in Perth gardens when watered only once a week or less frequently.
The Smart WaterMark is only awarded to products and services that show advances in water
saving. The schemes Expert Panel, which includes seven independent experts drawn from the
gardening, plumbing, irrigation and water industries, continues to be impressed at the level of
innovation being used to develop solutions to our water challenges, says the CEO of Smart
Approved WaterMark, Mr Julian Gray.
Increasingly, people are looking for help when it comes to choosing water-saving products and the
Mark makes it easy to identify those that live up to their claims, continues Julian Gray.
In total, more than a dozen products and services were approved by the Smart WaterMark
schemes Expert Panel at their last meeting. The others include a water-saving device for the
shower, a portable unit for boat washdowns, and smart irrigation products [see the full list below].

water supply system for the watering of new and established gardens under the Commissions
Medium Level Restrictions and Permanent Water Conservation Measures. The Guideline was

The PRS-Dial is a sprinkler valve that regulates outlet pressure of any commercial Rain Bird
solenoid valve regardless of incoming pressure fluctuations. It saves water by maintaining correct
sprinkler flows and avoiding excess pressures which could result in wind drift and excessive
evaporation.
1800 PRS, Rain Bird Australia.
The 1800 PRS sprinkler series maintain a constant pressure of 2.1 bar despite mains variations,

water loss if a nozzle is removed or damaged and equalise pressure in the sprinkler line to increase
spray uniformity.
