Monto to host state Landcare conference
Landcare Queensland has confirmed that Monto, in the North Burnett, will be the location of the 19th annual
Landcare Conference to be held in Queensland. It is expected that 350 people will attend the event, to be held in
September 2008.
Manager, Landcare Queensland, Emma Trigg said "it has been more than a decade since this annual conference
was held in the Burnett and we are very excited about showcasing the projects and challenges related to land
management around that region and further afield.
"Pulling together a conference of this size in a town like Monto has unique challenges, so we are hoping to build
many local and regional partnerships to ensure the event's success," Miss Trigg said.
The conference will be hosted by North Burnett Landcare Group who have selected the theme Infinity:
Sustainability by Design. Topics will include local food production systems, peak oil, sustainable design, wetlands
and agriculture, succession planning, mental health and soil carbon.
