Why:
This conference follows in the wake of the recent Environment Protection
and Heritage Council (EPHC) meeting in early November in which Minister Garrett made historic
announcements relating to the National Waste Policy and product stewardship for TVs /
Computers / Tyres & Packaging. Minister Garrett will deliver this keynote update on the
progress of this new legislation and will announce important changes affecting the waste
recycling and resource recovery industries in Australia. The inaugural Zero Waste Summit 2009
brings together the entire waste and recycling industry with case studies from industry and local
government to explore, discuss and implement new measures to achieve a responsible, closed
loop and sustainable solution in waste recycling.
