ETS, climate change and ethics
Experts available for comment
RMIT University experts are available to talk on issues related to the Liberals
leadership crisis.
Caroline Bayliss, 0408 142 050
Director, Global Sustainability
Ms Bayliss says the ETS is deeply flawed, having already been compromised and
now weakened even further through the amendments. Compensation that should
be going to households is instead going to heavy emitters and reducing incentives
for change. One of the few positives is the recognition of the voluntary actions of
households.
A 1 Million Women Ambassador, Ms Bayliss is this week chairing a Women in
Climate Change forum in Melbourne, as part of the campaign to empower one
million Australian women to take practical action on climate change.
Dr Michael Segon, 0418 132 048
Senior Lecturer, Graduate School of Business
Dr Segon is an expert on business ethics and codes of ethical conduct.
A number of ethical perspectives are present in the current events surrounding the
Coalition and the Government including: trust, loyalty, self interest versus national
interest and the potential of any new Liberal leader breaking agreements put in
place to pass the ETS legislation.
