Climate change scare is over says Lord Monckton
Latest science shows that climate change scare is over The latest scientific research shows that there is not a
problem with human influence over the climate and therefore the climate change scare is over, the British
environmental commentator Lord Christopher Monckton said on his arrival in Sydney.
"The truth is out and the scare is over," Lord Monckton said. Lord Monckton said people should not blindly
believe him or former US Vice President Al Gore on global warming, but to undertake their own research.
"Al Gore, who has refused to debate me on climate change, claimed sea levels would rise by six metres
imminently due to ice melting in Greenland and Antarctica, when science shows the maximum would be
only six centimetres if, in fact, all this ice ever melted," Lord Monckton said.
"If Gore really believed that why did he buy a condominium at water level in San Francisco while making the
movie?"
"The fact is that the Greenland ice sheet increased every year from 1993-2003 by five centimetres." Lord
Monckton said.
"The world is forever warming and cooling and had gone in and out of several ice ages - all before man
developed polluting industries and motor vehicles."
Lord Monckton said that in the 40 years 1695-1735, well before the start of the Industrial Revolution,
temperatures in Britain rose by 2.2-degrees-Celsius, higher than any time since.
"Also, temperatures in the mediaeval warm Period (AD 800-1300) were appreciably higher than today,
worldwide. We should all question interpretations and weightings used in graphs that minimise these
temperatures rises."
"Obviously, this medieval warming was not caused by humans," he said. "For about 7500 of the past 11,400
years, the weather has been warmer worldwide than it is today."
Among the myths Lord Monckton has exploded in his research are; Polar bears are dying due to a lack of ice;
Four dead polar bears were found following strong winds and high waves in a bad storm in Beaufort. The
Beaufort Sea has had a slight rise in ice in last 30-40 years, so polar bears do not have to swim 60 miles (96
kilometres) to find ice. Polar bear numbers are up 2-5 times since the 1940s, so they do not face imminent
extinction.
Greenland's ice cover is collapsing into the sea due to global warming; The fact is that Greenland's ice cover
is increasing by 5cms per year.
Man has caused Mount Kilimanjaro to lose its ice summit. Satellite recordings of Mount Kilimanjaro for last
30 years show ice ablated due to water run off as Africa cooled (1979-2001); and the ice and snow cap had
been declining since 1820 - long before mankind could have caused this.
Polar sea ice is disappearing; the fact is that the sea ice did diminish for a few days in the summer of 2007,
but it soon returned to the previous level.
Three weeks after the lowest level of Arctic sea ice in 30 years was recorded, the highest Antarctic level in 30
years was recorded.
The Eurasian snow cover that provides water for well over a billion people is declining- In fact; there has
been no identifiable trend over the past 40 years.
The frequency and intensity of hurricanes is rising. In reality, they are at a 40 year low. In Australia, "The
number of tropical cyclones in the Australian region has declined slightly since the 1950s" (Year Book of
Australia 2008 page 64 - Australian Bureau of Census)
Climategate
Lord Monkton said the recent exposing of the Climategate scandal at the University of East Anglia was a
concern to all. Leaked emails showed that scientists were encouraged to destroy data sought under a
Freedom of Information request - a criminal offence.
"Everyone should question why scientists sought to hide the truth. The reality is the scientists are politically
and financially linked to the politicians and their governments that fund them. I fear we are the victims of an
organised and systematic scientific fraud."
He said the Climategate emails also exposed tampering with data, bullying of journal editors and scientific
fraud.
History
Lord Monckton rose to prominence in the global warming debate with articles published in November 2006
disputing whether global warming is man-made, suggested that it was unlikely to prove catastrophic, and
criticising the science presented by the Intergovernmental panel upon Climate Change.
Lord Monckton played a role in a 2007 UK High Court of Justice legal challenge in a bid to prevent the Al
Gore film, An Inconvenient Truth being shown in English schools without offering alternative, balancing
opinions.
He was involved in distributing the documentary, The Great Global Warming Swindle to schools of as a
riposte.
