FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

BARNABY JOYCE TELLS QUEENSLANDERS TO FIGHT ETS

Senator Barnaby Joyce told the audience at a public meeting in Roma last Friday to

fight the proposed emissions trading scheme legislation if they wanted to survive in

business and farming.

Senator Joyce made it clear he would continue to fight the proposed legislation as it

had the potential to ruin farming enterprises and increase energy costs for all in the

community without any environmental benefits.

The meeting was one of three convened in regional Queensland by the Australian

Climate Science Coalition [ACSC] and Property Rights Australia.  Presentations on

climate science were given by Professor Bob Carter, lead science advisor to the

ACSC.

“This fight is now up to you” Senator Joyce told the audience in Roma.  “I will

continue to do what I can, but you must tell politicians that you do not support this

legislation.”

In answering questions from the audience, Professor Carter said “The three very

reasonable questions put by Senator Fielding to Penny Wong, on the key science

issues underpinning the emissions trading scheme legislation, have not been

answered.”

“The minister cannot expect support for legislation, which will come at great cost, to

supposedly reduce already declining global temperature, while

at the same time;

levels of carbon dioxide continue to rise.

The proposed legislation will do nothing to mitigate the natural climate change we

are already experiencing” concluded Professor Carter.
