ACF Executive Director to address state landcare conference
Landcare Queensland today confirmed that Don Henry, Executive Director Australian Conservation Foundation
will join more than 35 other speakers at the 2010 Queensland Landcare Conference being held in Caloundra, 15 –
17 September.
Landcare in Queensland celebrates its 21st anniversary this year and Geoff Penton, Chair Landcare Queensland
says it is fitting that ACF features prominently on the program.
“It was the Autsralian Conservation Foundation that joined forces with the National Farmers’ Federation in the
1980’s to create the landcare program,” Penton said. “Landcare was a community driven movement, responding
to serious land management issues like soil conservation and vegetation management.”
“The movement has matured over 21 years, but our philosophy stays the same: we’re about local people coming
together to find solutions to local problems.”
“We’re absolutely delighted that Don Henry can join us for this event. Don is a highly respected environmental
campaigner and he has contributed to many international conservation programs during his many years. Many
people may not know, but Don spent much time campaigning right here in Queensland – for the protection of
Moreton Island, the Great Barrier Reef, North Queensland and Cape York.”
Don is joined by more than 35 other speakers who address a broad range of topics. Registration to attend the
