Singapore's Senior Trade Minister to Keynote Platts Top 250 Global Energy Companies Rankings and

Asia Leadership Awards Dinner

SINGAPORE, Aug. 28 /PRNewswire-AsiaNet/ --

Singapore's Iswaran to Highlight Asia-Pacific's Rising Energy Role at                October 20 Gathering of Energy

Company Executives

Singapore's top official for trade and industry, S. Iswaran, is slated to keynote the acclaimed Platts Top 250

Global Energy Companies rankings and Asia leadership recognition awards dinner and gala presentation on

October 20 in Singapore.

The Platts Top 250 Global Energy Companies Rankings, now in its seventh year, measures corporate

leadership by examining each company's financial performance and tracking the movement within the ranks of

Asia companies as

their role in the world's global energy sustainability equation increases. Platts executives anticipate that the 2008

awards will reflect a continued rise in leadership and dominance of regional energy companies, and the

increasing importance of their contributions to sustainable energy

technologies and practices.

"Platts is honored that Mr. Iswaran will deliver this year's keynote

address highlighting the growing influence of Singapore and other Asia-Pacific

countries in an increasingly global energy marketplace," said Platts President

Victoria Chu Pao. "Asia's representation in the Platts Top 250 is 20 percent

and rising steadily."

In addition to his role as Senior Minister of State for Trade and

Industry, Mr. Iswaran was elected to Parliament three times and was Deputy Speaker of Parliament for two years.

Iswaran has also held senior executive

positions at Singapore Technologies, Temasek Holdings and the Singapore Indian

Development Association.  He has an economics degree from the University of Adelaide and a Masters in Public

Administration from Harvard.

"Singapore has been host to the Platts Top 250 event for the last three years and we are pleased to once

again welcome energy executives from the region and the world to Singapore to celebrate their leadership and

performance as they embrace the challenge of finding solutions to the world's

future energy needs," said S. Iswaran, Singapore's Senior Minister of State for Trade and Industry. "It's fitting that

Singapore, fast-becoming a hub for

environmental sustainability, is the site for this event and the important industry dialogue that will be occurring at

the corresponding Top 250

Executive Summit."

Platts is the world's leading energy information provider and a division

of The McGraw-Hill Companies. At the Top 250 Asia Leadership Awards Dinner and

gala, now in its third year, Platts will also recognize the Top 10 Asian

Energy Companies, the Top 10 Fastest-Growing Asian Energy Companies, and the

Top Asian Energy Companies in each of eight industry segments:

    -- Diversified utilities

    -- Electric utilities

    -- Gas utilities

-- Integrated oil and gas companies

    -- Refining and marketing

    -- Independent power producers

-- Coal and consumable fuel companies

The dinner and gala follow the unveiling of the 2008 Platts Top 250 Global

Energy Companies Ranking and the associated Executive Summit, where CEOs and

other executives will gather to discuss key issues facing the energy industry

and the Asia-Pacific region.
