MEDIA RELEASE PR31864
Prestigious World Renewable Energy Congress Selects Renewable Energy Asia for 2009 Event
BANGKOK, Sept. 18 /PRNewswire-AsiaNet/ --
MEETING TO BE HELD AT RENEWABLE ENERGY ASIA in BANGKOK
With countries in Asia experiencing rapid economic growth, a dramatic
increase in demand for new energy resources is under way. Although fossil
fuels still contribute the largest share of total energy at 79%, renewable
energy sources are growing by leaps and bounds and now account for around 20%.
And, as oil prices have soared to over US$100 a barrel, that trend shows no
sign of changing any time soon.
These developments underline the significance of the World Renewable
Energy Congress, which is held in specially selected countries each year. For
2008 the conference was successfully held in Glasgow, Scotland. But next year
it will be Asia's turn - and the site selected is Bangkok. The Congress has
also chosen to hold its meeting at Entech Pollutec /Renewable Energy Asia -
adding further to the prestige of that event.
As before, Renewable Energy Asia 2009 will run in conjunction with Entech
Pollutec Asia, being held at the BITEC Exhibition Centre in Bangkok from 20-23
May. It is being organised by CMP Media (Thailand). Without a doubt, this will
be one of the most important environmental events of the year and comes with
the full backing of the World Renewable Energy Network (WREN) and the Thai
Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB).
Views, ideas and programs on Renewable Energy will be discussed by key
international representatives such as policy makers, researchers,
manufacturers, environmentalists and financiers. A full program of informal
plenary and technical sessions, which should prove both fascinating and
productive, is currently being arranged. Topics will include: Bio and Solar
Energy, Wind and Small Hydro Power systems, Fuel and Hydrogen Cells, Energy
Policies and Economics, Air Pollution, Energy-related Environmental Technology
and Energy Management, Global Warming and Climate Change.
