Australia's energy demand is forecast to grow by up to 50% over the next 20 years. How are we going to keep the lights on?
Young Australians are invited to help secure the nation's energy future by presenting their ideas in an entry paper for The Warren Centre's National Energy Essay Competition.
"It's a great opportunity for our inspiring young leaders, lateral thinkers and innovators to confront one of the major issues of our time" said Dr. Karl Kruszelnicki.
"Their visions could be the catalyst for more reasoned and enlightened debate on the evolving energy supply and demand challenges facing Australia," he said.
Entrants are competing for a total prize pool of $50,000, including two major prizes of
$20,000 each!
The competition is open to individuals and teams of up to three members, who must all be Australian citizens or permanent residents and under the age of 31 years at 30th June 2008. Entries close on 22nd August 2008.
Details and on-line registration are available on the competition web site at www.neec.org.au .
