RSPCA NSW Accepts Interstate Challenge!

23 April 2009

RSPCA NSW has eagerly accepted a challenge set down by the charities sister society in Western Australia- to see which state gets the most people and animals attending this year's Million Paws Walk!

Sydney animal lovers are urged to get out to Sydney Olympic Park on Sunday 17 May to take part in the event and help NSW win the nation-wide challenge.

"We were already really looking forward to this year's Walk however now there's even more reason to show the other states that NSW has the most animal lovers in Australia," said RSPCA NSW CEO Steve Coleman.

"We're definitely not afraid of some friendly competition but in order to win we need all our supporters to get out to the Sydney event to prove we are the leaders."

Registrations for this year's Walk are now open and the RSPCA is urging all supporters to book their spot now to ensure they can be involved in a fun day for animal lovers and an important fundraising event for the RSPCA.

Twelve walks will be held across NSW with the main event taking place at `The Overflow' in Sydney Olympic Park- which will be hosted by television personality Mike Goldman. With over 5,000 animal lovers expected to attend, supporters are urged to register in advance.

"This year we are hoping to beat last year's turnout of around 5,000 people at the Sydney event. While the initial target of a million paws (250,000 animals) is yet to be reached country-wide, we hope that the community will get out there and make this year's Walk bigger and better," said Coleman.
