TOBY THE
WONDERDOG PASSES
AWAY AGE 14
Australias most loved dog and star of Harrys Practice, Toby the Wonderdog,
has passed away peacefully at age 14 at the Sydney home of his owner,
celebrity vet Dr Katrina Warren.
For 14 years we were a team and our relationship was filled with unconditional love, trust and
friendship, said Katrina.
While I am deeply distressed by his passing, it is important to remember he lived an
amazing, full life and he leaves so many wonderful memories.
Beloved pet and constant companion to Katrina, Toby the Wonder Dog was born in the
Southern Highlands of New South Wales.
The brightest of a litter of seven Border Collies, he easily caught the eye of Dr Katrina Warren
who was on the lookout for a canine co-host. It was a combination of his unusual chocolate
brown markings and his extroverted nature that made him The One.
Even before he hit the big smoke, Toby knew he was destined for fame. After all, the TV
cameras had already filmed Dr Katrina choosing him from the litter for Totally Wild on
Network Ten. From then on, everything from his first bath to his vaccinations and his
encounters with sheep were documented.
Toby posed for his first magazine spread at the tender age of 10 weeks, turning it on for the
cameras as if he were bred for the role. He then went on to grace the pages of newspapers
and national magazines including NW, Womans Day, New Idea, Dolly and Australian
Womens Weekly.
Seasoned TV hosts spotted his natural flair, inviting him to make guest appearances, and his
popularity soared with his move to star in the prime-time hit show Harrys Practice.
We must celebrate not only Tobys extraordinary journey and his relationship with me, but
the way our four-legged friends enrich our lives and make the world a better place, said
Katrina.
