Twenty five of Melbournes leading dogs will put their best paws forward today at Federation
Square.
DOGS Victoria will be hosting Meet the Dogs of Melbourne where dogs of all shapes, sizes and breeds
will be on show.
The event will take people behind the scenes of the organisation and running of dog shows and will be a
showcase of best practice in dog handling, obedience training and a lot of fun for dogs, their owners and
visitors.
It will be a chance for people to find out about what is involved in running a dog show - What is a judge
looking for? How do you compare a Dalmatian to a Basset Hound?
Types of dogs attending include:
TOY: Pug
TERRIER: Staffordshire Bull Terrier
GUNDOG: Weimaraner and Golden Retriever
HOUND: Borzoi and Basset Hound
WORKING: Welsh Corgi and Border Collie
UTILITY: Miniature Schnauzer and Boxer
NON-SPORTING: French Bulldog and Dalmatian
OBEDIENCE: German Shepherd Dog, Shetland Sheepdog, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Dandie Dinmont
Terrier, Border Collie and Golden Retriever.
