Hayden Panettiere in Sydney Australia on April 1 to Ask for 1 Million Petition Signatures to End
Commercial Whaling
SYDNEY, Mar. 31 /PRNewswire-AsiaNet/ --
Whaleman Foundation spokesperson and real life Hero travels down under to oppose any whaling
deals and call for 1 million signatures on her petition at SocialVibe.com.
Hayden Panettiere will be visiting Sydney, Australia on April 1 to rally support from Aussies, urging them to
sign the "Save the Whales Again!" petition at SocialVibe.com and to oppose any negotiations that will
legitimize commercial whaling and overturn the existing moratorium. Hayden will be delivering the petition to
the International Whaling Commission at their meeting this June in Madeira.
"This is the easiest way for people to make a big difference in our fight against commercial whaling and the
petition," Hayden said. "Please help us reach our goal of 1 million people and help us stop this cruel and
needless slaughter."
Since the whaling moratorium went into effect in 1986, over 25,000 great whales, including endangered
species, have been killed by Japan, Norway, and Iceland while Japanese fisherman have killed hundreds of
thousands of dolphins and small whales in their coastal drive hunts.
Recent studies have shown that whale and dolphin meat is loaded with Mercury, DDT, PCB's and other
contaminates making it unsafe for human consumption.
Hayden has been a supporter and spokesperson of The Whaleman Foundation since 2005. In February
2007, she, along with several of her "Heroes" co-stars officially launched the Foundation's "Save the Whales
Again!" Campaign. Her now famous first swim in Taiji, Japan to protest the dolphin drive fisheries later that
year established her as a champion of the cause.
